Generating More Golf Swing Distance
There is likely no aspect of golf where form and balance play a bigger role than in generating consistent golf swing distance.
Yes, you can be totally incorrect in most of what you do in your swing and still create enough club speed to hit the golf ball a long way. But unless consistent distance and a certain amount of accuracy is at all interesting to you, then things like golf swing posture, golf swing mechanics, and golf swing dynamics are going to be important to you to understand and master.
Generating more golf swing distance off the tee or on the fairway starts with maintaining balance all the way through your swing. If the hands get going faster than the body, or the body rotation is not in sync with your golf swing rotation, then you're going to be off balance, off target, and off the fairway or green.
By focusing on the proper golf mechanics, and getting the whole swing working together, then club speed can slowly be added to the equation. But if swing control and balance gets lost as you increase your club speed, then you need to dial it back down until you have your simple golf swing under control again.
If you ever watch average sized professional golfers consistently hit drives over 300 yards, then you'll come to understand that the distance is not generated through raw power and brute force, but by the entire body working together in the golf swing rotation. In fact some of the greatest power gains can be found by opening up the hips at the proper moment in the swing and getting full hip rotation.
This may also require that you work on your golf swing flexibility as a stiff torso with a limited range of motion can lead to happy feet due to your lower body not being able to rotate far enough to stay in balance with your upper body.
Another power gain can actually come from a short golf swing where you may decide to cut down on an excessive back swing that has increased the travel of the club to an extent that is now hard to control. When you do make contact, your long golf swing can go a long way, but the bad golf swing shots are likely out numbering the good ones.
The right combination of flexibility, balance, and control will generate considerably more golf swing distance than swinging harder or applying more brute force.
