The Step By Step Golf Swing
Professional golfer's make the golf swing appear to be so easy and effortless, but there are quite a few moving part working together to generate the intended result. This becomes painfully apparent when fighting the learning curve of a beginner golf swing up to even higher levels of play.
But improvement always comes back to breaking the swing down into its essential components and then taking a step by step golf swing approach towards improvement and mastery of a good golf swing. By focusing on each step, you will also be in a better position to perform your own golf swing analysis and make the necessary adjustments.
For this discussion, we're going to break the golf swing into the following steps: 1) address; 2) backswing; 3) impact; 4) follow through.
Once you have your set up completed, addressing the golf ball is the first step in the golf shot. At this point, it’s important to keep your head on a swivel, check your target and returning to the ball without creating any unnecessary body movement. At this point, you are making sure that you're properly aligned to the target and your stance is in a ready position.
The backswing is initiated as you start to draw the club back in one fluid motion, with shoulders, hips, and arms all in sync. As your back swing increases, you will need to be shifting your weight from your front foot to your back foot in a slow and deliberate fashion. As you continue the backswing, the club will go behind your body and your back will turn to face the target with most of your body weight now shifted to your back foot.
Your body has now fully coiled, completing the backswing movement.
For impact, start your swing forward, maintaining the speed of your golf swing rotation through the point of impact in order to generate the optimum amount of force from your body movement. A good golf swing will be allowing you to uncoil in smooth and fluid motion that is not being forced in any manner.
As you swing continues beyond impact, you should end up with your chest now facing the target and your weight transferred to your front foot. Being fluid with your swing all the way through will allow you to maintain your balance and execute the shot properly.
A step by step golf swing approach is something that will allow you to focus on what aspect of your swing are working and what areas require more attention. Just make sure to continue your golf swing training and over time even a bad golf swing can become great.
